Business Association Executive Board Role Descriptions
The Executive Board of the Business Association is responsible for guiding the organization’s mission, fostering a strong business community, and delivering value to members through leadership, events, advocacy, and professional support. Each officer plays a vital role in ensuring the association operates effectively and continues to meet the evolving needs of its membership.
Chair
The Chair serves as the chief executive of the association, responsible for strategic leadership and overall direction.
Leads the executive board and general meetings.
Represents the association in public and at community/business events.
Sets strategic goals and oversees execution of the association’s mission.
Works with community leaders, government officials, and business partners to advocate for member interests.
Ensures all board members are effectively contributing to their roles.
Prepares Meeting agenda and sends to the secretary to distribute by email
Vice Chair
The Vice President supports the President and helps ensure smooth operations across all initiatives.
Steps in for the President as needed.
Helps manage board activities and special projects.
Assists in planning programs, workshops, and advocacy campaigns.
Serves as a liaison between committees and the board to maintain alignment with strategic goals.
Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees the financial well-being of the association and ensures transparency and accountability.
Manages the budget, financial records, and all banking activities.
Provides regular financial reports to the board and membership.
Ensures dues, sponsorships, and other revenues are collected and tracked.
Guides the board in making fiscally responsible decisions.
Secretary
The Secretary handles the official records and internal communications of the association.
Prepares The minutes and distributes meeting agendas(from Chair) and minutes.
Maintains organizational documents, bylaws, and member records.
Assists in coordinating board communications and meeting logistics.
Helps with external correspondence, including announcements and updates to members.
Helps maintain the website with the Social Director.
Social Director
The Social Director assists the planning and execution of events that engage members and promote networking. Social director will Maintain facebook and Instagram posts.Will work with the Secretary to maintain the website.
Organizes mixers, luncheons, professional development events, and community outreach programs.
Works to strengthen relationships among members and with the local community.
Coordinates logistics, marketing, and vendor relationships for all events.
Seeks feedback and continuously improves the association’s event offerings.
Members at Large x3
Members at Large provide broad support to the board and represent the general membership.
Attend board meetings and vote on organizational decisions.
Take on special projects or initiatives as needed.
Represent member interests and provide input on programs, policies, and events.
Help promote association activities and recruit new members.
